@AirblasterShred66 God, this whole idea that bass shouldn't be played with a pick comes from the insecurity some very amateur bassists feel because other people think they're just bad guitarists. It's bullshit. Finger style and picking produce different sounds that suit different styles, just as with guitar.A good player should be able to play both ways and the method they use when writing their own music is their choice.

@TheTylerGeissler do you play with your ring finger? or does it cause pain even if you dont use it? you could try to switch to picking, or just try to use ur 1st and middle finger

I have a question for any guitar or bass player. When I was five years old I got one of my fingernails ripped off, it was the ring finger, and when it grew back it grew a lot more secure. Whenever I play with that finger now it's very painful. Can anybody give me some advise on what to do?
