@yobrotha12 well, based on history of martial arts, Japanese JiuJitsu (aka Jujutsu) was the samuari martial art that involved striking, kicking, weapons training, grappling, chokes, arm locks, etc. Kano took his knowledge of Japanese JJ and developed Judo, which is a modified version of Japanese JiuJitsu. He took ALL of the best parts from Jujutsu and created Judo. Then Gracies took Judo and created BJJ by modifying Judo (not Japanese JJ).

@pcjudosambo well, that's not exactly true... Japanese jiu jitsu was modified by the gracie family to be more effective in self defense and sportive competition. there really was no such thing as brazilian jiu jitsu until the gracie family modified it themselves. So in a way, BJJ was "made" by the gracies.

@getthetapjjWhy is there always someone on the internet who always has something negative to say? Most of us know how DEEP BJJ is...but this is just a highlight video, how much of BJJ's spirit can you capture on a youtube video? The title is just fine considering the fact that if some1 types BJJ on a youtube search, this is what they will find.

@steeeeker off the back, yes I'd say BJJ is king. Takedowns straight into submissions I would give to Judo & Sambo. Both are excellent in submissions but in both Judo & Sambo submissions must be done fast to relate to real life fights. I like BJJ guys but for some reason I cannot say that BJJ guys are the fastest submission artists. Judo and Sambo guys are much faster (because you're given only a certain amount of time on the ground to mimic real life threats).

@pcjudosambo yes i totaly agree man all styles have there strengths and lows :) what i meant was ground wise (off your back) nothing is as dangerous as BJJ. A and judo has the ultamite best takedowns/throws/trips u name it :) i like sambo too i train alott of martial arts its like a drug to me i am addicted to all of them. but i can honestly say my BJJ is the most dangerous by far :P

@megasayajinsongoku99 i meant 100% start up and 80% end up on the ground

19:20:
@megasayajinsongoku99 well, I do agree that if you throw someone using Judo or Sambo, chances are the fight is over then (effective throw) but you know what they say: 100% of the fights start on the ground and 80% end up. So if you end up on the ground, your grappling skills learned in Judo or Sambo or BJJ will help you avoid punches, strikes, etc by controlling or submitting your opponent.

@megasayajinsongoku99 well Sport Sambo is part of Combat Sambo and Sport Sambo can and IS used as a style of self-defense. It's not a complete art because it forbids many of the techniques allowed in Judo or BJJ (e.g. chokes). Even Combat Sambo tournaments are not a true depiction of what Russian Special Forces learn. Their Sambo is different because they practice lethal techniques that cannot be practiced in Combat Sambo tourneys. But Combat Sambo as a whole is a very effective art.

@yobrotha12 BJJ was not "made", it was modified. There is a difference between modification and creation.

@steeeeker It's not the style that matters. It's the person behind the style. I've seen a blue belt judoka submit blue, purple and brown belt BJJ guys. I've also seen 3 year Sambo guys submit and takedown brown belt and black belt BJJ guys AND I've also seen blue belt BJJ guys submit black belt Judokas. So it's not the art, it's the person behind it.

@yobrotha12 all arts are made for the same reason :-) ... look BJJ as it trained today in the most places is basically a sport and has only small purpose in selfdefense .... Generally ground game is not for selfdefense because it is not good against multiple opponents.. Beside of them if the other strikes , bite and eyegouging than its very difficlut to wrestle ....

@megasayajinsongoku99 no no no i dont think you understand the whole concept of Bjj. The reason why it was made is so a smaller WEAKER opponent can control and dominate a bigger STRONGER opponent. Bjj is not about strength it is about technique. there is no reason why a trained Bjj practitioner could not prevail in a hand to hand fight with an unskilled opponent there is absolutely no way. whether it is sportive or combative there is no way.

@tyebo87 Combat Sambo for the military has nothing to do with the sport Sambo ...If one throw me on the ground and than comes to controll me on the ground , than I will attack his eyes, his groins, ears , nose or other vulnerable areas..Sport ground tactics has nothing to do with real ground fighting .....look at all pure selfdefense systems .. Defendu ,ww2 combatives , Krav Maga , Guided Chaos , did you think all those are fools who say that striking is the king of true fighting ????
